North - Coquimbo

Coquimbo is the sister city of La Serena, located just 25 minutes away. From Coquimbo, visit the colonial city of La Serena with its many churches, and its Archaeological Museum (now in a remodelation process), or its handicraft market, La Recova.  Going further, the Elqui Valley is a long oasis that produces many fruits and vegetables, being the most important the grapes.  From them, we obtain pisco, a distillation that is one of the most important liqueurs from Chile. Also the production of wine is present here, and also in other valleys South of Coquimbo.  Of course, one of the main attractions are its several observatories, some allowing to observe the Sun in daylight, or just visit one of the most important ones in the world, Tololo observatory, and its premises.
